[Episcopal News Service] The rector of an Episcopal church in St. Augustine, Florida, was the victim of a stabbing attack Oct. 23 that has left him hospitalized, the Diocese of Florida said in a written statement on the attack. The Rev. Matt Marino, rector of Trinity Episcopal Church, was having coffee in the city’s downtown neighborhood when “a random assailant” stabbed him, the diocese said. There was no initial indication of a possible motive behind the attack.

[Episcopal News Service] Several dioceses across the Southeastern United States are still in the early stages of recovering from hurricanes Helene and Milton after the devastating and deadly late-season storms made landfall within two weeks of each other. Hurricane Helene was a powerful Category 4 storm with winds of up to 140 miles per hour. It moved from the Big Bend region of the Florida Panhandle late on Sept. 26 into the hills of Appalachia two days later.

I have recently discovered that my biological father, the late Sir Anthony Montague Browne, had an ancestral connection to the enslavement of people in Jamaica and Tobago. His great, great grandfather was Sir James Fergusson, an owner of enslaved people at the Rozelle Plantation in St. Thomas, Jamaica.
