It’s that time of the year when the Lloydminster community comes together to clean. The first of the two events takes place between April 28 to May 4. Pitch-in week sees the city call on its residents to help clean the community.

I’ve lived in a few towns that will boast their “snowmageddon” event, a snowstorm or event so large it made history. I’ve seen snowbanks at least five feet taller than me and I’ve seen photos of snow engulfing houses. Read more: Grant helps Fire training in VermilionSince I came to Lloydminster, I was incredibly curious about what marked history as Lloyd’s snowmageddon. In December 1955 a snowstorm hit, and it was marked in the Lloydminster Times as the worst blizzard in history.

Residents will see more upgrades to 40 Ave. following the April 7 council meeting. The signalization of 40 Ave. was awarded to Can-Traffic Services Ltd. but other work was also discussed. Read more: New traffic lights being added near Cenovus Energy HubMost notably, the widening of 40 Ave. to include turning lanes. The work is part of offsite infrastructure projects and will see widening on 40 Ave. at both the 36 St. and 41 St. intersections.
