1 INTRODUCTION Research suggests that consumers typically experience negative emotional reactions to chemicals (i.e., the concept of chemicals in general), such as worry or concern. Even strong emotional reactions, such as fear (i.e., chemophobia), seem to be common among consumers. This has been documented in a number of different studies over a longer period of time and in a range of different countries (Kraus et al., 1992; Rembischevski et al., 2022; Siegrist & Bearth, 2019).

However, no previous study has investigated how diverse these changes are across subjects and whether the subject-specific dynamics of some microbes correlate with the over-time dynamics of specific metabolites.
