January continues with its hit-or-miss output on the big screen and small. Ava DuVernay’s ambitious Origin, Andrew Haigh’s devastating All of Us Strangers, and Freud’s Last Session – a big swing with a couple of great performances – hit screens in the hopes of some last minute awards consideration. It really is the most wonderful time of the year. Sure, sure, holidays and all, but take a look at some of the movies coming out right now. Not every city will have big screen opportunities for Maestro, a likely nominee for actress among others, but you can catch it at both the Drexel and Gateway Film Center. And you should, because it is gorgeous, as is the latest from animation master Hayao Miyazaki, also all over town on big, beautiful screens.
