Florida coach Todd Golden's historic season came to a close at the height of college basketball. Golden, who just won his first NCAA Tournament game this year, now has an NCAA championship to his name. Florida took down Houston, 65-63, with a furious rally in the final minutes of the game at the Alamodome on Monday night for the 2025 national championship. Florida only led Houston for one minute and 12 seconds of game time, while Houston was on top for a little more than 30 minutes.

Spurs star Victor Wembanyama was in attendance for the men's college basketball national championship game on Monday night. Wembanyama's second season in San Antonio ended prematurely after he was diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder in February. The club said the ailment was discovered when Wembanyama returned to San Antonio following the All-Star Game in San Francisco.

Hudson McNew, Boerne: senior, pitcher/infielder - McNew went 4-for-4 at the plate, driving in nine runs and smacking three home runs in a 20-3 win over Alamo Heights. Johnson's Elvis Estrada hit the game-winning home run in a 4-3 win over Madison in ten innings. O'Connor's Ryan Mason pitched a complete game no hitter in a 10-0 win over Marshall. Davenport's Nick Jovich hit .500 this week and did not allow a stolen base in the Wolves' sweep of Fredericksburg.

Houston will be playing for a national title in San Antonio less than 200 miles away from its main campus, while Florida fans will have to travel around 1,000 miles from Gainesville to the Alamodome. Florida coach Todd Golden acknowledged the likelihood of Monday night's national championship game being played in front of a majority Houston crowd, but added that the Gators were in a similar situation during the SEC title game.

Houston is returning to the national championship game for the first time since 1984 after taking down Duke, 70-67, in the national semifinals. Duke led by as many as 14 points with under 10 minutes to play, but a late push by the Cougars turned it into a single-digit game. Houston retook the lead for the first time since the opening minutes of the game with just 20 seconds to play. A foul on Houston forward J'wan Roberts led to two free throws, both of which Roberts made.

While Houston's current focus is on winning a national championship, the Cougars discussed their expectations ahead of the Final Four for Brennan's Kingston Flemings next year. Flemings, who is the Express-News boys basketball Player of the Year for the third straight season, signed with Houston in November and led Brennan to a Class 6A Division I state semifinal berth this season.

NEW BRAUNFELS - "State bound! State bound!"Chants rang out in Unicorn Stadium on Tuesday night after Southwest boys soccer took down Leander Glenn 3-0 in a Class 5A Division I regional final. The victory and accompanying chants mark the program's first appearance in the state semifinals. The Dragons (24-1) will face Angleton, who beat A&M Consolidated 2-1 on Tuesday, in the state semifinals this weekend.
