The artworks of Don Kegarise are currently on exhibit at the Fulton County Public Library. Don has been very involved with the art community in Fulton County. The Miami Indian Tribe of Indiana has its tribal headquarters at 80 W. Sixth St., Peru. The tribe purchased the old Peru High School decades ago to use for its headquarters. They use the gymnasium for Bingo, dancing, gatherings, meetings, special worship and other events. The classrooms are used for many activities such as kindergarten, babysitting, meetings, various gatherings.

The Fulton County Community Foundation, a fund affiliate of the Northern Indiana Community Foundation, has awarded a $20,000 grant to the Akron Youth League to support the replacement of field lighting at the boys diamond in Akron. The original lighting system, installed in 1974, was outdated and inadequate for safe play. While the bulbs were last replaced in 2012 with help from Fulton County REMC, the entire system was in need of a full upgrade.

Longtime Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay could poke fun at himself. Years ago, I attended a special preview of the long, unspooled typescript of Jack Kerouac’s “On the Road” at what was then the Indianapolis Museum of Art. Irsay had bought the treasure for $2.43 million and was about to send it around the country for a series of exhibitions. This was well before the 2014 incident when he was pulled over with enough pills in his possession to start his own pharmacy.
