Beekeepers whose first language is Spanish now have a knowledge resource for keeping pollinators healthy: the new Washington State University Abejas melíferas y polinizadoras website. Educators with the WSU Honey Bee and Pollinators Program recently completed a full translation of the group’s English-language website, which covers everything from pests and diseases to training opportunities and the WSU bee blog.

Members of the Washington State University Board of Regents reached a consensus on their preferred candidate to serve as the next president of the university during their meeting Friday in Seattle. In doing so, regents authorized Chair Lisa Keohokalole Schauer to enter into negotiations with the presidential search finalist referred to only as Candidate B during the public portion of the meeting.

Described by his pet parents as the “laziest dog you’ll ever meet,” Thorton, a 10-year-old pit bull, spent much of the holidays exactly where he wanted to be – cuddled up on the couch with his people, Savannah and Dillon Tiedeman-Mueller. These are moments the Moscow, Idaho, couple will never take for granted. They know every second with Thorton is a gift, especially with all they have endured the past year and change.

Sport management career-track professor Pete Van Mullem has been named the International Sport Coaching Journal’s (ISCJ) editorial board member of the year for 2024, a recognition of his exceptional contributions to advancing sport coaching research worldwide. The ISCJ is a peer-reviewed journal designed to advance the research and development of sport coaching. The editorial board is made up of 23 professors from countries around the world, including Australia, Brazil, and the United Kingdom.

The David G. Pollart Center for Arts and Humanities announced on Jan. 1 that Chris Dickey, associate professor in the Washington State University School of Music, will serve as its director for a three-year appointment. Dickey who formerly served two years as assistant director, takes over for Trevor Bond, interim dean of libraries, who had served as director since 2021. “I accepted this appointment because I strongly believe in the mission of the David G. Pollart Center for Arts and Humanities.
