TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— The east side of Terre Haute is continuing its pattern of economic growth with the addition of several new businesses coming in the near future. Terre Haute Mayor Brandon Sakbun confirmed to WTWO that 7 Brew coffee, Jimmy Johns, Azzip Pizza, and a Quik Trip gas station. 7 Brew, a coffee shop chain, will be located next to the Aldi and has already begun construction. Azzip Pizza will go in the strip mall alongside the Chipotle WTWO previously reported.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— This evening, the Purdue Extension held its annual banquet and Purdue Day of Giving event at the Vigo County Fairgrounds. The event was held to highlight the programs that they offer to the community. Volunteers, 4-Hers, and community partners had tables set up where attendees could visit to learn more about the programs. Vigo County Purdue Extension Director Christie Jacob says this event is important to spread the word about the programs and where to get started.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Meet Lieutenant Dan. A few days ago, Lieutenant Dan was found outside of a home in Kentucky and was taken to the Harrison County Animal Shelter. According to a Facebook post made by the animal shelter, employees did an intake assessment and realized that he was paralyzed from the waist down. Due to his injuries, the shelter stated in the Facebook post that they did not have the funds to care for him and needed help.

This is a community-driven plan focused on the development of the Wabash Riverfront and is being led by several organizations, including the city of Terre Haute, Vigo County, Riverscape, and Thrive West Central.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— A recently formed support group is providing a sense of community for local people who have visual impairment. The group meets once a month, and they discuss different topics during each meeting. On Wednesday, they learned about assistive technology. This was the second time the group met. “I’m excited to learn about new devices for blind and low vision people.” said Luna York, an attendee of the group.
