An Uber driver was sentenced Friday for a sexual assault that happened in Bangor more than two years ago. Joseph Graston was sentenced to five years in prison with all but three years suspended, followed by two years of probation, according to the Penobscot County district attorney’s office.

A man was shot Wednesday night outside a Bangor nightclub. The man was shot outside 190 Harlow St., the location of Diamonds Gentleman’s Club, about 9:30 p.m. after an argument escalated, according to Bangor police Detective Lt. Brent Beaulieu. The man, whose identity wasn’t made public, was taken to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center with injuries not considered life-threatening. Beaulieu said Friday that the investigation is ongoing and there’s no threat to the public.

Maine wants a federal judge to toss out the Trump administration’s lawsuit accusing the state of violating Title IX. In his 18-page response, filed in U.S. District Court on Thursday, Maine Attorney General Aaron Frey denied the claims that the U.S. Justice Department leveled against the state. Additionally, Frey asserted that the Trump administration’s threatened action against Maine violates the spending, due process and equal protection clauses and the 10th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

Flames erupted from a manhole outside the Auburn City Hall on Thursday afternoon. The fire broke out on Court Street about 1:37 p.m. at a manhole that was under construction, according to the Auburn Fire Department. Crews responded quickly and extinguished the flames within minutes, though it took several hours to put out the remaining hotspots underground.

A tractor-trailer was consumed by flames Wednesday morning after a crash in Turner. Roger Eastman, 82, of Milan, New Hampshire, was driving a gray Western Star tractor-trailer south on Route 4, also known as Auburn Road, about 7:41 a.m. when a black 2023 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by 51-year-old Fox Kein of Cornish crossed the center line and collided with him, according to the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office.
