That’s the question that many have about the new $105 million, 160,000 square foot building. After visiting the Highmark Center, here are my thoughts. It isn’t just for athletes, but, for the most part, it is. After entering the Highmark Center, I was shocked by how nice the building was.

Every year at Carnegie Mellon, changes are made to campus, policies, and even to our eateries. This year we have the brand-new Highmark Center, designated bike paths, Shake Smart, and hundreds of new students. All very exciting new developments, although some changes will take longer than others to get used to.

There’re a lot of books out there, and plenty of genres too. Even the Carnegie Mellon libraries are filled with books. Beyond the genres, the stacks, the tropes, there are four types of books. There are real fake books, fake real books, fake fake books, and real real books. This will be an explanation of their classification. What is a real real book? This category includes the non-est of non-fiction books.

This is something I had to do last weekend when I took a trip to Caliban Book Shop. After browsing through the adorably cramped and cluttered shop, I brought a copy of the book “Crowds and Power” by Elias Canetti to the cash register where an obviously cool bookseller helped check me out.

Two weeks ago, my friend Lisa and I took the bus down to the Waterfront AMC to go see one of the most anticipated movie sequels of the year: “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”. (You can read Lisa’s review of the film in last week’s issue of pillbox!) We always get there in time to watch all the previews, and that particular night we decided to turn it into a game.
