Baptist PressBy , posted April 1, 2025It happens. Life s going well, it seems. You’re comfortable where you are. You’re enjoying what you’re doing. As far as you know, you could spend the rest of your life living where you live and doing the work you’re doing. Then, God unexpectedly changes your plans. Sometimes it happens excitedly, sometimes painfully – but surprisingly in either case. What do you do in those times? Know that God always sees a bigger picture than you do.

Metadata:Share this post: Parents, our kids may not be physical captives in Babylon, but they are captives to whatever is captivating them. And that presents a serious challenge for discipleship. From immersive gaming to endless funny videos, the competition for their attention is fierce. If you’ve ever spent 15 minutes yelling, “Dinner is ready!” while your child is glued to a screen, you know exactly what I mean.

By , CP Guest Contributor When I became a believer at age 13, my pastor told me to begin praying for my parents to become believers. I followed his direction, and I started praying that God would save my mom and dad. Frankly, God took His time. My dad turned to Christ when he was 71 — 36 years after I began praying for him. God dramatically changed my dad (so much so that we weren’t always sure he was the same person!), but it still took more than three decades for God to answer my prayer.

In my day I have seen to many Pastors behave like loose cannons! I could write a book from my days in Christian radio and being a Pastor myself. I have witnessed the destruction. I have been called upon in the past to help rebuild Churches. We just had our FGGAM Board meeting last month. We have a great board that holds me accountable, Bill Ruhl Vice Chairman, Wanell Pate, Chuck Akeley, and Sonja Haylet. My partner in life Sharon is right with me. Our adult children also hold their dad accountable.
