    A porch roof separated from the back of a house and then collapsed Friday night in Oakland, injuring nearly 30 people who were among dozens of revelers who'd gathered for a St. Patrick's Day weekend party at the house on Semple Street, near the University of Pittsburgh campus. No one was killed when the porch roof caved in shortly before 5:30 p.m. behind the house in the 300 block of Semple Street.

    The Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium on Sunday announced the death of its 17-year-old female Masai giraffe, saying she was euthanized two days earlier because of a degenerative bone condition that grew worse. The giraffe, named Sox, was one of the zoo's most beloved residents, along with the male giraffe Lewis, zoo officials said in a statement. Sox had been treated for chronic degeneration of bones in her left foreleg since the summer, according to the statement.
