This weekend, check out live theater, art and music, plus an egg hunt and the Easter Bunny. Friday, beginning at noon and ending at 4 p.m. Saturday, visit with the Easter Bunny at Greenwood Mall. Photos are available in exchange for donations to Humane Society of Greenwood. Through Saturday, Greenwood has the Hop and Shop Eggstravaganza. Participating Uptown merchants have baskets of colorful Easter eggs, containing special promotions and discounts.

In true party band of the South fashion, the Swingin' Medallions rocked Lander University's Finis Horne Arena Thursday to raise money for the university's John and Jayne McElrath Memorial Scholarship for Music. State Sen. Billy Garrett and Rep. John McCravy presented a joint resolution before the April 10 show, naming a portion of S.C. 34 — between Greenwood and Ninety Six — as the John McElrath Memorial Highway.

For Glennis Cannon, “digging in the dirt” is her “very favorite thing.”“I grew up, in the country, in Abbeville County,” Cannon said. “We always had these huge vegetable gardens.”Earlier this year, Cannon, who now lives in Greenwood, was selected by Lakelands Master Gardeners Association (LMGA) as Master Gardener of the Year. More than 110 people are certified Master Gardeners through the organization, which is affiliated with the Clemson University Extension Service.

Books can also be purchased from Petit and Abercrombie for $25 at two local events scheduled this month: 11 a.m.-1 p.m. April 12 at The Museum of Greenwood, 106 Main St. The first 50 children to attend will receive patriotic treat bags. 2-4 p.m. April 13 at Cokesbury College Easter Extravaganza Egg Hunt, 210 College Drive, Hodges.
