Proteomics, namely analysis of the “entire protein complement expressed by a genome, or by a cell or tissue type” under defined conditions, (1) is an essential means of exploring physiology and the changes that occur, e.g., during stress, infection, or disease. By collating such information, it is possible to explore protein function and evaluate the effects of targeted intervention of a protein or pathway, for example with small molecule inhibitors.
