Edinburgh's Lord Provost, Robert Aldridge, has secured tickets to the Euro 2024 opener against hosts Germany next month, with taxpayers set to cover the £1400 bill. A child rapist who brought police to his door after threatening to commit suicide because of allegations against him was jailed for four years on Monday. Mohammed Ahmed was aged just 12 when he began abusing two younger girls and subjected them both to rapes and violence. Ahmed, now 24, repeatedly sexually assaulted the children at an address in Edinburgh but was later confronted by one of his victims.
