Musk announced his decision late Wednesday evening, thanking Trump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending. The Tesla CEO said DOGE will, however, continue. The United States says it will impose a visa restriction policy on foreign nationals who censor Americans on social media. Marco Rubio, secretary of state, announced the new policy in a statement on Wednesday. Rubio said free speech is among the most cherished American rights but accused foreign governments and officials of clamping down on its citizens.

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has condemned reports alleging that Daniel Eheri, a Nigerian, died in Luxembourg police custody. A statement issued on Wednesday by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, NIDCOM media director, said the commission would work closely with the Nigerian embassy in Belgium to ensure investigations into the circumstances that led to Eheri’s death. Eheri’s death was made public in a petition to Abike Dabiri-Erewa, NIDCOM chair, sent by the Nigerian community in Luxembourg.

At least 44 officers of Niger Republic’s defence and security forces (FDS) were killed in a deadly ambush by suspected jihadist militants during a river patrol operation in the Dosso Region. Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, reported the attack late Tuesday.
