First thing in the morning the horses were taken out for their usual exercise, which allows them to let off a little bit of steam so they're not too excited when the ceremonial part of their day begins.

Major crash officers are investigating a crash on Sunday afternoon which left a cyclist with serious injuries. WA Police said a Ford Falcon ute was travelling east on Cecil Avenue around 1pm when it collided with a cyclist near Leila Street in Cannington. The cyclist, a 34-year-old man, sustained serious injuries in the crash and was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital by ambulance.

Travellers on their way to work have been left stranded on the Mandurah train line due to a technical issue. Trains on the Mandurah line have been cancelled between Cockburn Central and Rockingham. A traveller heading north said the train suddenly stopped and the power went out just before 7am. It was about 30 minutes before a rescue service arrived, which is now working to pull the train to the closest train station.

With just days to go until the UK marks 80 years since the end of the Second World War in Europe, Armed Forces personnel have been putting their final preparations in place for a major moment of commemoration. Around 1,000 people from across all three services have been taking part in final rehearsals at Army Training Centre Pirbright ahead of the military procession in London on Monday. Flying Officer Scott Ring of the RAF Regiment is one of the marshals for the RAF marching contingents.
