US food delivery app DoorDash has picked up its second major acquisition in a week with the buyout of restaurant booking platform SevenRooms. This follows the firm’s £2.9b acquisition of UK counterpart Deliveroo,after Deliveroo suspended a £100m share buyback programme last month. The food delivery company had just posted a profit for the first time since its founding in 2013.

Chris King, co-founder of the Birch hotel brand, has launched Crafted, a new series of ‘life-friendly’ hotels and clubs. The new brand will debut in the form of Crafted at Powdermills in Battle, East Sussex, in late 2025, taking over the Grade II-listed PowerMills hotel. Bubble tea brand Gong Cha has appointed Justus Haller as its new general manager, growth markets.
