Northcote hotel, which has been part of the Britannia Hospitality-owned Stafford Collection since 2019, has been sold to Silkstone Finance. The 26-bedroom, four-red-AA-star hotel in the Ribble Valley, Lancashire, had been on the market since 2024. General manager Craig Bancroft, who will continue to lead the hotel under its new ownership, said last year that Northcote was “looking for a new long-term investor who wants to take the work the Stafford started to the next level”.

A café owner has received a suspended prison sentence after falsely claiming £150,000 in Covid support loans. Mehmet Akyuz, 36, fraudulently obtained three Bounce Back Loans worth £50,000 each in 2020 for his Green and Hove Limited and Leathers Wear Limited companies. Neither company was trading at the start of the pandemic, and the funds were transferred to his personal bank account, the Insolvency Service said.

Deliveroo has posted strong performance in Q1 2025, with gross transaction value (GTV) up 9% year-on-year in UK and Ireland, building on the same increase rate in Q4 2024. The food delivery platform’s UK and Ireland order growth accelerated to 7% (5% in Q4 2024) with both GTV and orders growing ahead of the market. Internationally, GTV growth was also 9% year-on-year in constant currency (10% in Q4 2024).

The Italian restaurant group said its six UK restaurants “continued to have resounding results” with “exciting media coverage and a real public success”.
