    The 2025 season was yet another big step in the right direction for the Coronado Islanders boys’ lacrosse program. After capturing the CIF Division I title in 2024, the Islanders put together a double-digit win season in 2025, helping them earn a spot in the 2025 CIF Open Division playoffs. While each member of the Islanders’ program contributed significantly to the team’s success this season, there were those who went above and beyond.

    Fundraising events are critical for high school sports programs. It’s often these events that allow teams to afford new uniforms, purchase up-to-date equipment, and make key additions or alterations to their home field venues.  For the Coronado Islanders baseball program, their biggest annual fundraiser is just around the corner. On June 27th, the program is set to host its 5th annual CHS Baseball Alumni Golf Tournament.

    Few coaches in San Diego County are likely to have as extensive a coaching resume as newly hired Coronado High School boys’ and girls’ water polo Head Coach David Throop. For the past 30+ years, Throop has coached at almost every level, from high school to NCAA and international development. That included an extended previous run with CHS water polo from 1991 to 2015 and again from 2019 to 2021. After a brief four-year separation, the two have been reunited once again.

    The Coronado High School baseball program experienced one of its most successful seasons in 2025. The boys in green and white made a run to the CIF DII semifinals and claimed the 2025 Eastern League title. As one might suspect, the Islanders had a number of players selected to either the first- or second-team all-league due to their success. In total, six Islanders would be given all league honors. They are as follows.

    For the second straight season, the Coronado Islanders softball program made a trip to the CIF playoffs and finished within the top two of their league standings. Thanks to their play this season, a total of four islanders were selected and given all-league honors. They are as follows:Senior Ali Pecus earned first-team all-league honors and was awarded the 2025 City League Field Player of the Year. In the circle, she was Coronado’s ace, posting a 2.11 ERA and striking out 109 batters over 106.1 IP.
