The Jackson High School softball team won the first district championship since 2007 at Massillon on Friday. The Polar Bears overcame a two-run deficit to win 6-5. Gabbi Williamson was 2-for-2 with a double for Jackson. Williamson also threw out a runner at home from right field. Maddie Moden had the key play in the comeback for Jackson with an infield single with the bases loaded and two outs. MASSILLON — Some would be rattled. Most would be worried.

The St. Thomas Aquinas softball program earned its first win since 2018 this spring. Aquinas did not have a team the past two years and had not played a full schedule in six years. Results on the scoreboard were the furthest thing from the minds of those close to the St. Thomas Aquinas High School softball program coming into this spring. Finding a way to just get on the field was the highest priority. That didn't stop first-year head coach Tim Pinter from wanting more.

The Lake High School softball team reached the OHSAA district championship game for the second straight year. Bri Handy had three RBIs in the victory for the Blue Streaks. Gianna Greathouse pitched a complete game for Lake. The win gives Lake senior and University of Akron recruit Olivia Brown a final chance at a district title. LAKE TWP.
