IntroductionIn this article, we consider the evolution of private urban security governance1 and reflect on the spatial trajectories of governance. We draw attention to how locations, logics and practices of private urban security governance have transformed over time, with a focus on the challenges of unfolding 21st-century ‘harmscapes’ (Berg and Shearing, 2018) – specifically, climate crisis with its roots in ‘the inexpressible devastation of the Earth’ (Escobar, 2018: 7).
