MARYSVILLE, Wash. — There’s a new early learning center coming to Marysville. The YMCA of Snohomish County made the announcement Friday. It is set to open in Fall 2025 at the Marysville YMCA. The goal is to provide affordable, high-quality childcare to local families. “This is more than just a new facility—it’s a direct extension of our mission to strengthen families and support youth development in our community,” said JJ Frank, Executive Director, of Marysville Family YMCA.

SAN JUAN COUNTY, Wash. — The Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) state veterinarian’s office has confirmed the presence of a highly contagious, deadly disease in rabbits on Lopez and Orcas Islands in San Juan County. It’s called Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus Type 2 (RHDV2). The rabbits suspected of having the disease were sent for testing at the Washington Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory at Washington State University and the results came back positive Thursday afternoon.

LYNNWOOD, Wash. — Lynnwood Police says its K9 unit is officially certified in fentanyl detection. The dogs also can detect meth, heroin, and cocaine. “A big congrats to K9 Chase, Rico, and Cannon and their handlers who worked hard to achieve this certification,” the department wrote on ‘X.’Our K9 unit is proudly one of the first in the area to be certified in fentanyl detection in addition to detecting meth, heroin, and cocaine.

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) is issuing a warning about a scam involving your employer. 1. The scammer finds out where you work2. You receive a text you don’t recognize, from someone claiming to be your boss3. If you reply, you’ll be asked to purchase a gift card for a client or to wire funds to another business.

Washington’s Lottery is asking players to double-check their lottery tickets. There are two $10,000 Match 4 prizes that are expiring next month. One ticket was purchased in Marysville at the WinCo Foods on 116th Street Northeast. It expires on October 22. The other ticket was purchased in Graham at the Safeway on 224th Street East. It expires on October 27. Players hoping to claim their prize should check their ticket and collect their winnings at one of the regional offices of Washington’s Lottery.
