MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - A fairly cloudy, damp and blustery day is ahead for Friday as the clouds will be the predominate feature in our sky. Friday's forecast in Minnesota Scattered showers can be expected as they become more widespread during the afternoon and evening hours. This will lead to slowly sliding temperatures in the Twin Cities as we fall from right around 60 degrees, to the low 50s by the dinner hour.

Final spring freeze? April 24 is the average last freeze date for the Twin Cities. If we can stay above freezing at the official climate site at MSP Airport from here on out, it would end up being the third-earliest final spring freeze on record, dating back to 1872. The average last freeze from the metro southeastward is usually in the second half of April, but most of Minnesota experiences the final freeze in May – and it can be closer to June in many spots north of Lake Superior.

Mid-March snowstorm A swath of heavy accumulating snow and strong gusty winds will lead to white-out conditions at times inside a band of heavy wet slushy snow on Wednesday. The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for areas most likely to see this combo, which includes much of southern Minnesota.

MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - Friday brings unseasonably warm temperatures before evening storm chances, and overnight rain will transition to snow for some on Saturday. Bright and warm Friday Friday could see record warmth with widespread highs in the 70s. The Twin Cities metro daytime high is expected to be around 74 degrees, just beating out the old record of 73 degrees set back in 2012. Expect a mix of sun and occasional cloud cover ahead of the storms approaching from the south.
