Owner Jeanie Buss has agreed to sell her majority stake in the team to Mark Walter, the CEO of diversified holding company TWG Global. ESPN is reporting the Lakers sale could top $10 billion, which would mark the largest-ever sale of a U.S. professional sports team — a record set just three months ago.

Police arrested New York City comptroller and Democratic mayoral candidate Brad Lander on Tuesday, June 17, at an immigration court in the city. His arrest comes as voters cast their early ballots in the race to unseat current Mayor Eric Adams. Video of the incident shows Lander linking arms with a person authorities were attempting to detain at a federal building in Manhattan. That’s when he and the person he was with were arrested.

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy says the company’s growing use of artificial intelligence is transforming both customer experience and internal operations, and it will likely reshape the workforce. In a memo released Tuesday, Jassy said Amazon is using or developing more than 1,000 generative AI applications. Streaming has hit a record. For the first time ever, people in the U.S. spent more time watching streaming services — like Netflix and YouTube — than they did watching broadcast and cable TV combined, according to Nielsen. In May 2025, streaming accounted for 44.8% of all TV viewing, the highest share ever recorded. In comparison, broadcast TV represented 20.1% while cable TV accounted for 24.1%, totaling 44.2% — less than streaming alone.
