Peters placed second in the long jump at the Cedar Falls triangular on Monday, March 31, and placed first at W-SR’s home meet on Thursday, April 3. Currently ranks second in the event in class 3A with a season best 22-09.75. GirlsLinde Hubbard, W-SR Soccer, was named girl Roling Ford athlete of the week with 100% of the vote.

    The results are in for the Roling Ford Winter Sports Athletes of the Year. Voting was held online between Wednesday, March 12 and Wednesday, March 19. Here are your winners for both boys and girls bowling:Boys Swimming/BowlingRyan Law, Denver senior bowler, is Boys Swimming/Bowling Athlete of the Year with 36.2% of the vote. Law qualified for state in class 1A by throwing a 645 at the state qualifying meet.

    BoysLuke Frazell, Waverly-Shell Rock basketball, won boy athlete of the week with all of the votes. He scored 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting on Monday, Feb. 24 against South Tama in the first round of substate. Followed up that performance by tying his own school record of 44 points (15-of-25 on field goals) in a game in the substate second round against Central DeWitt. Also broke the school record for points in a season with 643, breaking the previous record of 521 previously held by Mike Bergman.
