The Bremer County Sheriff’s Department added its first deputy who is bilingual to its ranks on Tuesday, June 17, as Kevin Hernandez, a dozen-year-plus veteran of area law enforcement with cross training in firefighting and emergency medicine, took the oath of office. During a second update on the Bremer County Courthouse project phase two bid results on Tuesday, June 17, officials from general contractor Miron Construction indicated after talking with subcontractors that the Board of Supervisors could save upwards of $300,000 by eliminating certain elements of the project. The groups will reconvene at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 24 in the courthouse with the supervisors poised to review and potentially act on the phase two maximum price.
