It still seems strange that we are already coming to the end of another Guild Wars 2 expansion cycle, and yet here we are. It’s like I always say, time flies when you’re playing a Chronomancer. ArenaNet’s new yearly expansion cadence is starting to feel comfortable, and it’s starting to seem like the team is really hitting its stride, learning from missteps in Secrets of the Obscure and iterating on what worked well.

I think all gamers have a dream game in their head that they wish somebody would make, a mashup of the best parts of different games that they’ve enjoyed in the past. One of mine would have lots of bright colors, cool robots, and interesting RPG mechanics, and it’d borrow some of the elements of Stardew Valley like creative housing and some of the “endless game” mechanics. I have to say, Lynked: Banner of the Spark is the closest to that dream game I’ve played in a long time.

Repent! For the penultimate update to Guild Wars 2’s Janthir Wilds expansion is at hand!We are at the midpoint of this expansion’s continuing story with the launch of Repentance today, and the last episode, Godspawn, left us with a lot of questions. The threat of the Titans seems to be extinguished for now, but Ura left us with a tease of a larger threat coming — as defeated villains are wont to do.

Today marks the release of Godspawn, the first content patch of the Janthir Wilds expansion cycle for Guild Wars 2. While this patch comes with a bit of the usual story elements, the meat of it is largely group content. This includes both a new convergence, mechanically similar yet with a very different tone to the one we saw in Secrets of the Obscure, as well as the game’s first new raid in over five years.

I’m doing something lately that I never thought I would do in The Lord of the Rings Online: power leveling. That is, ignoring most of the normal narrative quest content in favor of whatever will level me the fastest. LOTRO isn’t one of those WoW-style “blitz to endgame” types of games, but is rather more about the storytelling and existing in Tolkien’s rich world. So why would I intentionally skip over a lot of that content? Because I’m cheap. Let me back up.

I got my house on #LOTRO's Angmar server! I don't have much in it yet, but I spent way too much time fiddling with sliders getting this wall painting to line up so it looks like it's on the easel, so I had to show it off! https://t.co/ryrPVLycJ5
