There is the possibility that southern Manitoba could be embarking on a wild weather ride in the coming days – or not. Thursday afternoon will be mostly cloudy in Winnipeg and the southeast, and possibly drizzly at times. However, a building ridge of high pressure will clear out clouds in the southwest this afternoon, before sunshine will return to the southeast later in the day. Afternoon high temperatures across the south should reach between 7 C and 10 C.

It is a soggy Wednesday across southern Manitoba. Showers or drizzle this afternoon will end this evening in most areas, including Winnipeg and Brandon. In most areas, daytime highs between 6 C and 8 C are expected. The southeast corner around Sprague can’t rule out a few flurries earlier this afternoon until temperatures warm up enough to flip over to showers. The same can be said for northwestern Ontario. In northwestern Manitoba, expect light rain or showers in The Pas Wednesday afternoon.

After a chilly few days by early April standards, more seasonal temperatures return Tuesday across Manitoba and northwestern Ontario. In the southeast, Portage la Prairie, Steinbach, Morden, and Winkler are all forecast to reach 10 C this afternoon. Winnipeg should climb to 8 C, the normal daytime high for the city for this time of year. With a cloudy start to the day this morning, most southeastern areas should see at least some sunshine this afternoon.

The first full week of April gets off to an uneventful start, but that’s a good thing. The sun is shining over much of Manitoba and northwestern Ontario, and winds are light on Monday. If there is one blemish on the afternoon forecast, it’s that forecast daytime highs are stubbornly cool for this time of year. Winnipeg, Brandon and the rest of southern Manitoba will only see temperatures rise to around the freezing mark.

Cool, but sunny conditions will prevail over southern Manitoba on Friday afternoon. Much like Thursday, Winnipeg, Brandon, and much of the south will see a mix of sun and cloud, with slightly cooler temperatures in the southwest than in the southeast. Winnipeg is forecast to reach 3 C, well below the normal early April high temperature of 7 C. Unlike yesterday, Brandon should see temperatures rise above freezing, if only just. The forecast high for the wheat city is 1 C.
