Soaring summertime heat continues on Monday in Winnipeg and across southern Manitoba. So much so that heat warnings remain in effect for south-central and southeastern regions and in northwestern Ontario. Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) said daytime highs in the low to mid-30s and overnight lows of 16 C or warmer will continue Monday until Wednesday.

Conditions are shaping up nicely for a great Winnipeg Whiteout Street Party on Wednesday. Expect sunshine, light winds, and temperatures climbing into the low 20s in the afternoon. Pleasant conditions will help keep the party going in the evening with a clear sky, light winds and warm temperatures in the upper teens. Southwestern Manitoba will also be sunny and warm Wednesday, but south winds will strengthen and gust in the afternoon.

Three days of summertime heat have come to and, after a cold front brought temperatures back to more seasonal norms in southern Manitoba on Tuesday. The front began to approach Winnipeg late Monday afternoon, when temperatures dropped from a steamy 29 C at 4 p.m. to 22 C an hour later, as strong northerly winds picked up. The front also triggered thunderstorms over Brandon late Monday night.

It’s only early May, but it continues to feel like summer in most of southern Manitoba on Monday. Here in Winnipeg and across the southeast, hot highs in the upper 20s and low 30s in abundant sunshine are expected this afternoon. It will be windy, though, with strong and gusting winds from the south. Conditions are more mixed in the southwest. Brandon and surrounding regions should reach the mid to upper 20s under a mix of sun and cloud, with strong and gusting north winds.

Time will tell if May showers will bring June flowers, but southwestern Manitoba is wasting no time, with showers moving into the region on this first day of the month. Showers will continue into Thursday evening. Cloudy skies over Winnipeg and the southeast during the day on Wednesday will partially clear out tonight. Overnight temperatures across the south will drop close to freezing, or below it, including in Dauphin and Swan River.

Weather conditions Wednesday are on the unsettled side across Manitoba. Rain fell in Winnipeg overnight into early this morning before moving off further into southeastern Manitoba and northwestern Ontario. With the main rainband now moving out of the region, there is still a chance of showers in the southeast for the rest of the afternoon into this evening. Meanwhile, the southwest will enjoy a mix of sun and cloud Wednesday. Conditions across northern regions are mixed, too.

Brandon and the southwest will enjoy a mix of sun and cloud Tuesday afternoon, while Winnipeg and the southeast will see even sunnier skies. Sunshine will spread east across northwestern Ontario, too. Conditions are more mixed across northern Manitoba Tuesday afternoon. Clouds will settle over the northwest, including The Pas and Flin Flon, and eastward into Thompson and Norway House.

After a warm weekend, much cooler conditions start the week off in southern Manitoba on Monday, with single-digit daytime highs expected. A low pressure system in the U.S. is sending a lot rain northward Monday, primarily into parts of southeast Manitoba and northwestern Ontario. Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) said rain will move into the southeast corner of Manitoba on Monday afternoon, dumping 30 to 40 mm on the area by this evening.

Sunshine is abundant and winds are light Friday afternoon across southern regions, with daytime highs climbing into the mid to upper teens. Winnipeg is forecast to reach a balmy 17 C. Thursday marks the start of four beautiful days in Winnipeg and across southern Manitoba. A surface ridge of high pressure over the southern Prairies is helping to spread sunshine or a mix of sun and cloud Thursday afternoon. Daytime highs across most of the south, including Winnipeg, should reach 15 C or 16 C. Brandon is right behind with a forecast high of 13 C in the sunshine.
