After four years of waiting, 2x Juno-award-winning The Color has released new music. The new track, Heartbeat, hit all streaming platforms on Friday. "Trust us... You'll wanna turn this one up," said the band in a post on Instagram. The band has been touring across North America for the past 10 years and has had a number of singles charting in the Top 50 on Billboard’s CCM Audience Airplay. The Color is currently on tour with the Newsboys and will be in Winnipeg on June 6, 2025.

Winnipeg police have made an arrest in connection with the city's latest homicide. Just before 2 a.m. on Sunday, officers were called to a stabbing in the 500 block of Waterfront Drive. At the scene, they found Kerry Eastman, 43, of Sandy Bay First Nation suffering from serious stab wounds. Officers treated the man with chest seals until paramedics arrived. The victim was transported to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

A close friend of the Nelon family and a member of the Jordan Family Band is in hospital after a kidney stone caused her to develop sepsis. Heather Rose Jordan, a vocalist of the Christian band, was rushed to the emergency room Wednesday afternoon. Doctors quickly discovered that she had a 5mm kidney stone that they believed was causing a blockage. A flurry of medical tests showed she had passed the stone. However, a significant infection has now entered her bloodstream.

Winnipeg fire crews were busy for nearly four hours Wednesday, battling a grass fire in the Tuxedo industrial area. The fire broke out just after 4 p.m. in the 200 block of Commerce Drive. Specialized wildland vehicles were brought in to contain the fire. Crews were able to get it under control just before 8 p.m. Winnipeggers are reminded that Winnipeg is under an open-air fire ban as we continue to deal with dry conditions. The ban will remain in effect until Monday, May 19, 2025.
