MOUNT GILEAD, Ohio — In the days following the death of Morrow County Deputy Daniel Sherrer, businesses have stepped up to show their support for the county’s law enforcement and the deputy’s family. On Wednesday, the End Zone Bar and Grill in Mount Gilead served a free lunch to first responders, no matter their department. “When something happens in this community, everybody comes together,” said Darci High, the general manager of the End Zone.

Now, the city plans to enter a new lease agreement with Downtown Columbus, Inc. in an effort to fill the space. Legislation before the Columbus City Council on Monday evening leases the restaurant property at 229 Civic Center Dr. and two food truck spaces to the nonprofit development corporation for $20,000.

POWELL, Ohio — The Ohio State Auditor released a final audit on the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium following the organization’s fraud case. The 61-page report details where more than $2.3 million of zoo funding was spent for personal benefit of the zoo’s executive team. That money was spent on suites and tickets to concerts and sporting events, golf memberships, personal vacations and vehicles. “The level of deception by those involved is absolutely shocking,” said Keith Faber, Ohio State Auditor.
