How they’ve dealt with the issue so far, however, has differed. Wellington County and Waterloo Region are both responsible for housing in their areas, while cities have been figuring out what to do with encampments on a bylaw level.

Voter information cards are arriving in mailboxes across the country with just two weeks left before Canada’s federal election. “All the information cards in the regions have been mailed, and they should be received or should have been received,” Nathalie de Montigny, Media Relations with Elections Canada, said. Anyone who is experiencing issues can register to vote or update their information before April 22.

The new owners of the former Towne Bowl building in Kitchener are outlining their plans for the location. Mario Halapir and a team of partners bought the Ottawa Street North building and plan to open a soccer store there by the fall. “We’ve experienced growth over the last bunch of years, and I think it’s necessity more than anything else,” Halapir, president of The Sports Link, said. Halapir first opened the soccer-focused store in 1992.

A trio of University of Guelph golfers are back from another whirlwind trip, but this time it took them to one of the golf world’s most prestigious events. Liam Fischer, Beck Ljungberg and Caleb Patry, who are known as ‘The Ontario Boys,’ first made headlines in March after attending The Players Championship in Florida. They have now travelled to Augusta National in Georgia to take in the first days of the 2025 Masters Tournament.

A grocery store in Kitchener, Ont. is trying to help students make memories at prom and Grade 8 graduation. Staff at Zehrs Stanley Park on Ottawa Street North started collecting clothing and accessory donations in March to ensure everyone can be fabulously dressed. “Where we are financially as an economy, if this is something that we can do to help a family member, that’s what we’re here for and that’s the purpose of it,” store manager Maddison Meyer said.
