    Waterloo Regional Police are searching for a man and woman after an attempted vehicle theft in Waterloo. Police said the incident occurred Wednesday, at approximately 5:35 p.m., after police received a report of a woman getting into a Toyota Tacoma in the area of Marsland Drive and Lexington Road and attempted to drive away. Police said the woman struck a GMC Sierra at a stop sign before fleeing the area in a sedan driven by a man. Anyone with information can contact police at 519-570-9777.

    A Waterloo manufacturing company plead guilty and was fined earlier this year after a worker was injured when their arm was pulled on a multi-drill. A $65,000 fine was levied by Provincial Offences Court against Valley Blades Limited, 435 Phillip St., after the worker was injured on Oct. 5, 2023. The severity of the injury wasn’t released by the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development.

    The Cambridge RedHawks ownership group is resurrecting the Cambridge Hornets. After a 20-year absence from senior hockey, the Hornets have been revived and will play out of the Galt Arena Gardens beginning in the 2025-26 season. The landscape in senior hockey has changed since the team was folded in 2006 by then-owners Gord Chaplin and Russ Elliot, who disbanded the squad after a player eligibility ruling caused the Hornets to forfeit points and miss the playoffs.

    The Waterloo Catholic District School Board has seen its second resignation in less than a month. Vice-chair Linda Cuff stepped down from her role Thursday, but will continue to serve as a trustee, stated a board release. Cuff is a representative for Waterloo/Wellesley/Woolwich. A new vice-chair will be elected at the April 28 meeting. The board had just appointed a new chair, Renee Kraft, on Monday to replace Bob Sikora.

    Waterloo Regional Police seek the public’s help to identify a man in connection with a reported case of criminal harassment in Kitchener. Police said on April 4 a female youth reported that a man, for about a month, had been trying to interact with her during early-morning hours in the area of Ottawa Street North and Heritage Road. The male suspect is described as 25–30 years old, with an average build, short black curly hair, scruffy facial hair, and a large nose.
