    The college years have the potential to be mentally and emotionally taxing for students. Young adults often bear the pressure to perform academically at the same time as they’re encountering all the responsibilities and trials of their newfound adulthood. It’s no wonder a Gallup poll reports that one in five undergraduate students considers leaving his or her program due to mental health struggles or emotional stress.

    A pastor friend of mine once confessed that in times of stress, he would “panic-buy” Bibles. He figured that even if he didn’t need them at the moment, he would eventually give them away. If there were deals and sales for multiples, it was an even greater incentive for him to get trigger-happy with his shopping cart.  We laughed about the piles of Bibles he must have hoarded in his basement. But later on it made me wonder what my version of panic under pressure would be.

    Rest is part of working well in any kind of labor. For parents, rest can mean taking some time away from the kids to do something that replenishes and energizes us. But more than a physical or mental break from attending to our kids’ needs, there is a kind of deep rest for the heart. We who are united with Christ are able to enjoy this rest for the inner person in the present moment.

    After youth group one night, my son told me the highlight was that one of the adult leaders shared her testimony. “Mom, I had no idea that Auntie Sue went through all that.” (We attend a Chinese church, and ‘Auntie’ and ‘Uncle’ is how kids address adults). Never having heard Sue’s testimony myself, I asked my son what she said. In the car ride home, he summarized Sue’s story, his sister interjecting to fill in the gaps.

    I am very frustrated, I want to get paid for working for Medium. However they are not giving enough details to set up Stripe. Really dude! Can you really pour piss out of your boots? You need to make it easier for us to set up. Also Stripe needs to make sure that their site is easy to navigate. Really dude! Also do a tutorial that way we can set up easier and get paid.
