The Dukes defense continued to keep the Spiders at bay, forcing them to just five shots on the afternoon. Now 8-2, 3-0 on the season, JMU is off to its best start since 2008, when the team opened the season 9-1. Up next, JMU resumes Mid-American Conference play Friday afternoon against Kent State at 3 p.m.

The Eagles dominated from the start, with Jaicere Bateman finishing the first quarter with three passing touchdowns, including two connections with Cedric Drumgoole. Bridgewater’s defense contributed significantly, with Aaron Moore and Donald Brooks II returning interceptions for touchdowns.
