CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WHSV) - Callie Hem scored a game high eight goals to lead the Duke women’s lacrosse team to a 17-10 victory over James Madison in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Friday night. JMU briefly led 2-1 in the first quarter but Duke went on a 6-0 run to take a 7-2 lead after the first quarter. Lem scored four of the six goals in the run.

TROY, Ala. (WHSV) - Cali Legzdin’s blasted two home runs, Kirsten Fleet pitched another complete game and James Madison’s softball team is heading to the Sun Belt Conference Championship game after defeating ULM 4-2 Friday afternoon. The freshman Legzdin gave JMU an early 2-0 lead with her two-run home run in the first inning. After Raegan Wall tripled and scored on a wild pitch to extend the lead to 3-0, Legzdin hit a solo home run in the fifth inning to push the lead to 4-0. 𝗟𝗔𝗨𝗡𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗗 𝗕𝗬 𝗟𝗘𝗚𝗭𝗗𝗜𝗡.

FOREST, Va. (WHSV) - Bridgewater second baseman Nick Stavros received Old Dominion Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors while four of his teammates and one EMU player received All-ODAC honors on Thursday. Stavros, who was also a first team All-ODAC recipient Thursday, hit .428 to go with a 1.091 OPS. He tallied 71 hits which included three home runs and 37 RBI. In 162 at bats, Stavros struck out just five times.

TROY, Ala. (WHSV) - Kirsten Fleet pitched a complete game shutout, Cali Legzdin and Payton List had crucial hits, and James Madison defeated defending conference champion and No. 1 seed Texas State 2-0 in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament quarterfinals Thursday. JMU is the first team to eliminate the top seed in the quarterfinals or earlier in Sun Belt Conference history.
