Firefighters responded to the 4200 block of River Drive in Moline for a structure fire Saturday evening, prompting the closure of a portion of the street. No injuries were reported. The Moline Fire Department responded around 8:37 p.m. to a single family residence, according to a news release from the department. There was fire showing from the rear of the structure.

The Davenport Police Department held a news conference Wednesday and presented numbers showing a substantial drop in non-fatal shootings, reports of gunfire and stolen vehicles. One number, not reported during the press conference, has remained high in Davenport and across the Quad-Cities: homicides. There have been eight homicides in Davenport since the start of 2024. The Davenport Police Department did not respond to a request for comment about the homicide total.

The federal government has approved individual disaster assistance for Illinois residents impacted by severe weather this summer, including in Henry County. On Friday, President Joe Biden signed a federal Major Disaster Declaration allowing the Federal Emergency Management Agency to open its Individual Assistance program for residents of Cook, Fulton, Henry, St. Clair, Washington, Will and Winnebago counties.
