Testimony started Wednesday in the trial of the two people accused of the 2024 shooting deaths of Brian L. Goodwin and Amy M. Smith. Adriana Blake and Devon Braet appeared in the Scott County Courthouse to face two counts each of first-degree murder and a host of other charges in the Jan. 15, 2024, homicides at 5210 N. Division St. in Davenport. The bodies of Goodwin and Smith were discovered in the early morning of the next day after neighbors called in a fire at the home.

A late motion was filed Friday in the upcoming trial of the two people accused of the 2024 fatal shootings of Brian L. Goodwin and Amy M. Smith. The trial of Adriana Blake and Devon Braet is slated to start Monday with jury selection in the Scott County Courthouse. The motion, filed by attorney Christopher A. Kragnes on behalf of Blake, seeks to sever Blake and Braet as co-defendants and asks Seventh District Court Judge Stuart Werling to grant the pair separate trials.
