A Lower Hutt community is in shock after an apparent shooting in the early hours of Saturday morning left one man dead and another fighting for his life in hospital. Police found the dead man at a property on George St in Stokes Valley at about 2.05am and the wounded man a short distance away, Detective Inspector Haley Ryan said. Emergency services rushed the surviving man to hospital, where he was treated for “life-threatening” injuries.

Wellington Airport is working through its backlog of passengers after weather conditions that cancelled the majority of flights on Tuesday. Airport spokesperson Phil Rennie said the terminal was at roughly normal levels and was not as crowded as Tuesday.

Interislander ferry Kaiarahi’s damage from a collision with a wharf is near to being fully repaired. The ship is expected to sail again on Thursday. The ferry has been in Wellington for repairs since November 12 after it crashed into a wharf and ripped a hole in its hull as it was coming into dock from Picton.

However, Interislander is expecting the ship will sail again before the week is out. The ferry crashed into a wharf in Wellington on November 12, ripping a hole through its hull as it was coming in to dock from Picton.
