An oyster crawl is a tasty (and very PNW) way to enliven this season. Fortunately for local diners, Washington's bounty never disappoints. Coastal communities have long depended on harvesting oysters. Native peoples enjoyed an abundance of the Olympia oyster, the only indigenous one in Washington. The California Gold Rush of the mid-1800s then spurred commercial harvest, as California's waterways were picked over and folks flocked north seeking out oysters from Olympia oyster beds.
