A number of studies have reported that the high cost of the devices may be a barrier for many [2,3,4]. It has been estimated that just a third of the cost of HAs purchased through a clinic is for the devices themselves, with the remainder covering audiological services and clinic overheads [5].

Enercon and RWE form onshore wind partnership for Europe

German turbine maker Enercon and energy major RWE have entered a long-term partnership to jointly realise onshore wind projects in Europe. The companies signed the memorandum of understanding at WindEurope’s annual event conference in Copenhagen. The multi-year agreement covers collaboration on projects in most of RWE’s core European markets. Enercon will be responsible for the supply, installation and servicing of the wind turbines for the projects.

GE Vernova has signed an order to supply eight of its 6.1MW-158m ‘workhorse’ turbines for a 49MW wind farm in Aragón, north-east Spain. It booked the order for renewables developer Forestalia in the first quarter of 2025. The deal is part of a 693MW framework agreement that the companies first announced in December 2023. Spain aims to install 62GW of wind capacity by 2030 in a bid to generate at least 80% of its electricity from renewable sources by the end of the decade.

Offshore wind veteran Michael Hannibal has joined Stiesdal Offshore as the floating wind technology firm’s new chief commercial officer. Hannibal joins Stiesdal Offshore from Danish investor Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), where he will remain a partner. He started his wind power career in 2004 at manufacturer Bonus Energy, which later became part of Siemens Wind Power and then Siemens Gamesa. He served as CEO of the company’s offshore wind division from 2014 to 2018.
