Andrés Cano is the new Pima County Supervisor for District 5. Supervisors chose Cano to replace Adelita Grijalva who resigned from the board to run for Congressional District 7, which is vacant because of the death of her father Raúl Grijalva. Cano was a staff member of former District 5 Supervisor Richard Elias. He was elected three times to the Arizona House and became part of the Democratic leadership there.

TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — A man charged with killing an Arizona State Senate candidate in an alleged drunk driving incident has rejected a plea deal. Michael Creel is facing second degree murder charges in the death of John McLean. There was still no winner declared in John McLean’s race for State Senate when a traffic wreck claimed his life November 15th. Days later the final vote count showed his opponent won the seat.

Under the Biden Administration, hundreds of thousands of migrants were legally allowed into this country if immigration officers decided they had a real credible fear of being in danger if they were forced to go back to their home countries. Justine Wadsack was a State Senator when a Tucson Police officer pulled her over as she was driving on Speedway. He told her he had measured her speed as 71 miles per hour in a 35 zone. Wadsack denied she was speeding but invoked a state law that said as a State Senator she was immune from prosecution. TPD said they only had to wait until the legislative session ended so they tried to ticket her afterwards.

(KGUN) — A man who showed signs of marijuana use, cut off a school bus from Kingman and made it crash on I-10 in Marana Tuesday—that’s from a charging document against Nicolas Luis Rodriguez. The Kingman school superintendent says when other drivers saw children in trouble, they stopped to help. 35 students from Kingman School District headed to Tucson for a conference for young business leaders. They were almost to the end of a six hour trip when there was trouble.
