(KGUN) — Downtown business leaders, community members, and volunteers in the Historic Fourth Avenue Coalition are searching for long-term solutions to address areas of improvement along Fourth Avenue. The Coalition created an improvement plan, or what they call “a roadmap,” which is a long-term vision of what Fourth Avenue could become. This project is all about making the area safer, more accessible and more sustainable, with ideas shaped by the community.

(KGUN) — Sunnyside Unified School District's (SUSD) governing board voted unanimously Tuesday night to comply with the Department of Education’s (ED) request of not using Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) practices in order to continue receiving federal funding. Agreeing to sign the letter under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and SFFA v. Harvard, was part of the district's approval of the consent agenda items.

At Tuesday morning’s special mass, Father Dennis Bosse spoke about Pope Francis’ mercy for people, sharing one of his most famous quotes from 2013. “He said, Who am I to judge? Who am I to judge? The essence of what I’m called to do, what all of us are called to do, is love one another," Father Dennis stated.

It's five days of events with the first day being the El Mariachi Canta Vocal Competition at the MSA Annex on Wed. April 23 at 6 p.m. It’s a competition where 3rd-8th grade, high school, and open community finalists will be showing off their skills and battling it out to take home bragging rights.

TUCSON, Ariz. — Solomon Okoronkwo, a professional boxer in Tucson is working his way up the Super Welterweight ranks and will be headed to Colombia this week to try and improve his record to 9-0. With preparation and determination, 31-year-old Okoronkwo is hoping to stay undefeated. "The guy I'm fighting, he has more experience than me," Okoronkwo said. "And my preparation doesn't really matter who I'm training for or who's on the opposite end of the ring, for me, my preparation stays the same.
