PETERSBURG, Fla. — With the start of hurricane season on the horizon, the City of St. Petersburg is adding a new line of defense to protect a critical infrastructure site from potential storm surge. A 9-foot-tall, 500-foot-long Aquafence will be in the city's armory come June to be deployed around a wastewater lift station located near Albert Whitted Airport as needed.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) will weigh a proposal for a regulated, annual black bear hunt on Wednesday morning. According to FWC, the primary objectives of regulated hunting are to align wildlife population sizes with available habitat and to support a healthy, sustainable population. Commissioners will meet at 8:30 a.m. in Ocala to pour over the proposed rules.

CLEARWATER, Fla. — The Church of Scientology has withdrawn what's become a controversial application to purchase a stretch of land from the City of Clearwater. A letter obtained by 10 Tampa Bay details the decision behind the church requesting the item be pulled from the Clearwater city council's agenda Thursday, where members were set to vote on whether to approve the purchase agreement for $1.375 million.

CLEARWATER, Fla. — The Clearwater Ferry service is set to resume Thursday morning for the first time since a deadly collision happened on April 27. The ferry’s operators said it proactively reviewed their procedures and vessels since then. The U.S. Coast Guard also conducted safety inspections of the vessels over the last week. "Monica's Crossing", a different ferry than the one involved in the investigation, was given the green light for use.
