The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has published its updated guidance on . The updated guidance specifically addresses the new duty on employers to take reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace which comes into force on 26 October 2024. If employers fail to comply with the new duty, the EHRC can take enforcement action. In addition, compensation in a successful harassment claim may be increased by up to 25%.

Ashurst's Psychosocial and Psychological Risks in the Workplace Report published in November 2023 found that in the UK only a quarter (25 per cent) of respondents considered mental ill-health to be a health and safety issue, with the majority seeing it as an HR issue. Key pointsNew regulations will set minimum service levels (MSLs) for essential industries including rail transport during strikes. For heavy and light rail train operation services, the MSL will be 40% of the operator’s timetabled services, and for heavy rail infrastructure services the MSL will be that priority routes and certain other nearby parts of the network are kept open between 6am and 10pm.
