NEW HAVEN -- Renovations for the New Haven Adult Education Center have begun, with the new location at 188 Bassett Street set to open in time for the fall 2026 semester. "The new center will have a lot more opportunities and spaces for us to use," said Michelle Bonano, the district's supervisor of magnet and grant programs. NEW HAVEN -- After years of advocacy for the New Haven community, the Haven Board of Education unanimously approved naming the adult education center after civil rights leader and pastor Edwin R. Edmonds. New Haven Board of Education Secretary Edward Joyner said he met Edmonds when he was only 20 years old. He said the two of them started a book collection for students at Wexler-Grant School in New Haven.
