DALLAS — Every week on WFAA, we introduce you to a different child in the Texas foster care system. Today's Wednesday's Child is Unique and she needs a forever family to call her own. Soon-to-be 16-year-old Unique leaned over a tray of tiny glass bottles at Malibu Apothecary in Dallas. The candle-making and perfume-making shop was where Unique built a scent that, for the first time in a long time, smelled exactly like who she is.

She's not just looking for a forever home, but for a family who truly sees her. WFAA met up with Jasmine at the Casual Cat Cafe in Richland Hills. In a cozy room filled with soft purrs and playful paws, the 16-year-old was in her element. "They're so cute. They're so precious," she said as she held a black and white cat.
