    HONOLULU (Island News) -- The American Red Cross Pacific Islands is stepping up to help our neighbors on the West Coast, as devastating wildfires continue to ravage California. Island News visited the Red Cross Headquarters in Honolulu to report on how the organization is mobilizing volunteers and sending much-needed aid to assist victims. Some of the wildfire victims lost homes, belongings and in some cases, loved ones.

To understand just how impressive that is, the average survival rate for cardiac arrests is just over 10%. The reason for this is that all airports are equipped with automatic defibrillators that are designed to deliver electric shocks to the heart and return a heartbeat to normal when in distress.
