Zr and its alloys have been widely used in fuel cladding and pressure tubes in water-cooled nuclear reactors for more than 60 years due to their good tolerance to irradiation damage, mechanical strength, corrosion resistance, and low absorption of thermal neutrons [1], [2], [3], but also are potential materials for future fission and fusion reactors [4], [5]. Despite the aforementioned unique material properties, a significant concern arises from the solubility of hydrogen in Zr [6], [7].

AbstractNeuronal mitochondria play important roles beyond ATP generation, including Ca2+ uptake, and therefore have instructive roles in synaptic function and neuronal response properties. Mitochondrial morphology differs significantly between the axon and dendrites of a given neuronal subtype, but in CA1 pyramidal neurons (PNs) of the hippocampus, mitochondria within the dendritic arbor also display a remarkable degree of subcellular, layer-specific compartmentalization.
