Although Vice President Kamala Harris received a majority of the votes for president in Boston, preliminary data show that President-elect Donald Trump made significant gains in the city since 2020. Precinct-level voting data from the city show Boston, like much of the country, experienced a rightward shift in this election. In the city, Trump’s vote share expanded by nearly 5 percentage points compared with 2020, a tally slightly higher than the statewide shift of 4.6 percentage points.

The state education department on Tuesday released the 2024 test results from the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System, better known as MCAS. Tests are administered to students in Grades 3-8 and 10. All tested grades take the math and English language arts exams.
